After hanging there awhile, panicking, screaming & crying...

That would be me.   :o

I've walked up and down some steep hills, slowly.  But rock climbing?  No way.

We've done two really nice rambles along the Cotswold Way the last couple days.  So great to get out in the sunshine after being cooped up in the house with a sick child!  The views from Painswick Beacon were spectacular.

I call it rock hanging. ;)  It was certainly not something that I signed up for, nor for which I was prepared.  It was an experience. :-[

Well done!

I moved up a level on the cross trainer following the shoulder injury. So I'm happy.

I hope the summer has nice weather - pub & walk in order then!

Yeah, well done!  I walk a lot, but don't know if I could do 8 and a half miles in one day and live to tell the tale!

Well done Mrs. Robinson!  I'm jealous of your rambling.  I broke my toe a couple weeks ago so have been going a bit easy.  Still walking, but not that far, just enough to get around to my errands and stuff.  With this gorgeous weather the footpaths are calling to me though...

I just put in a few miles on Dartmoor last weekend.  Gorgeous!  My kids were very excited about climbing up the Tors.

I know you shouldn't pet the wild ponies because they're supposed to be mean and nippy, but my husband who grew up there led the way and soon we were all petting them.  We didn't feed them though.

In the end, a little foal kept following us around like a puppy.  [smiley=smitten.gif]

Has anybody ever done the letterboxes on Dartmoor?

Yaye Tin!  I've never been to Dartmoor.

Our big adventure is fast approaching.  Also I think some friends would like to look at a long distance walk next year (maybe with us) along part of the Pembrokeshire Coast Path. :)

My husband and I are going to try to do Hadrian's Wall Trail this summer.

We can walk, or at least I can he can moan and walk it, but we just need to get organized with the sleeping pads and I left my sleeping bags in the U.S. and I need to order a new shock cord for my tent and ahhhhhh!

There are at least three YHA hostels along that route (more or less) - in Hexham, Bardon Mill, and Gilsland.

That is what I did when I walked the West Highalnd Way a few years ago.  I stayed at a few hostels, but mostly I staying in my tent.

I guess we will have to see how that goes.  I did the WHW by myself in my tent.  Maybe my husband will have to sleep outside.

We're back from our long ramble - the Cumbria Way.  It ended up being 86 miles all together, including the trail itself plus some walking to/from accommodations off trail.

The weather was fantastic!  The Lake District was beautiful - we're already daydreaming of some long weekends to some of our favorite spots, because there wasn't time to linger.

I have a couple blisters on my left foot, but the main thing is that I really buggered up my right knee when I fell on it the third day - then proceeded to walk the remaining 61 miles we had to go.  I finally went to A&E last night for it & they told me off for finishing the walk.  Now I am confined to the house, bedrest & keeping my leg elevated for at least three days - cos now the bruise & swelling is moving down my leg & my ankle is twice its normal size.

Lastly, a cool & equally terrifying thing that happened - we were repeatedly divebombed by a buzzard whilst crossing three farm fields between Keswick & Caldbeck!  No injuries because we ran, ducked & dived the whole way.

I'm knackered and have done little but sleep since we returned.  Steve is still working on the photos! :)
