Dinnerware - where to buy?

Almost every plate (and bowl) we own is chipped.  The set we bought was a bit cheapy and its showing.  Now, I want to get a nicer set and I don't know where to go!

I'm looking for something like Pfaltzgraff, so nothing too fancy.

Any suggestions?

John Lewis, Debenhams, Habitat, Ikea, Watt Brothers... I'll let you know if i think of any more.

Look at the Denby stuff online, then look for Glasgow stockists.
I think you'll like Denby if you like Pfalzgraff... if i am remembering correctly what Pfalzgraff is!!

I was eyeing Denby the last time I was at John Lewis.

But I can't justify it as all my original cheapy set is in tact.

We got ours from John Lewis (one of their everyday sets in a box), and I'm pretty happy with it.

I have the Regency Green set. I bought my original boxed sets from Denby online and paid 80 quid per box and then went about getting EVERYTHING else from Ebay.

The baking dishes wash up a DREAM!.......

Amazon has good sales on them now and then. Right now they have the glassware REALLY cheap.

I also have this range as my 'good' dinnerware

They have a 20 piece set for 59.95 it really is beautiful stuff! I accent it with gold. I have gold glass chargers I put them on.

You can always make a visit to the Potteries in Stoke-on-Trent and find some good buys around there.  The Wedgwood factory always has factory 2nds and the flaws are minute.  We were able to get 12 dinner plates, dessert plates, soup bowls and serving platter for less than 100 quid.  Granted, it was being discontinued so when it was gone, there was no more!  There are so many other factories there and they all have a "markdown" area for bargains if you don't want to buy anything expensive. 
Another place is going to the Auction houses around England.  We frequented 2 different ones - Ash Auction in Stoke and Biddle and Webb in Birmingham.  They were always auctioning off nice sets of dishes for very reasonable prices.
