Now that DH and I have settled in Dallas, TX, one of my first jobs here was to get my US license, so I had to re-take my US driving test this morning. Now, I went through h*ll getting my UK license, 7 months of driver training and taking the test 3 times to pass. Here in the grand state of Texas, I took the written portion (about 10min) and passed easily without studying. Then, came back this morning at the crack of dawn to stand in line for the test, there are no appts, first come first served. The officer regonized my northern accent, which I thought was funny. Anyway, the hardest part was waiting.
The examiner was in the car for not even 10min, she checked my turn signals, brakes and horn that they worked, then drove off and took a few turns (left and right), changed lanes, reversed for about 5 feet and parallel parked, but didn't finish and I passed. And I was nervous for some reason!
And I wonder why the driving is so crazy here? I really miss the civility of the british motorway, for the most part, the driving is a little more sane in the UK.
