Hi its kfleet here. I did pass my driving test today. I did fail it in September and was very upset about that. I did help to retreat back to the States for 2 weeks and drive on the right side of the road. I did not want to give up on getting a uk license. It is not an easy thing to go through and some bureaucracy says that you cant drive. I lost my privilege this past june. It has taken me one year of lessons since i had never driven a manual before! I was so lucky today to get the turn in the road and the parrallel park, not the turn around the corner. My teacher said that i got a good examiner, not the same one i had in september. What was great was that the examiner did not talk that much so i could get down to business. I was familiar with the main roads, never been in the residential areas . No matter. I took her instructions very well. This is what shockedme. At the end back at the test center, i turned my head away thinking that i had failed again. She said that i passed and she asked for my license so that it could be changed to a full license. I have the certificate in a very safe place till my license comes in the mail. I will be on the outllook for it.
I got 3 minors on the whole run. I was shocked as hell! One was for harsh braking at a roundabout and another was being too aggressive at another roundabout. I have been accused of that, no surprise. The other was for a steering, not sure about that one. I am excited beyond words. I am 37 years old and i am proof that it is never too late.
I am so glad that i changed instructors when i did. It was the best decision and without him , i could not have done it today. I did not have a car to practice since my husband's car is a company car. IT helped too that my former driving teacher was not at the Portsmouth test center today.
For me, it has opened the door to freedom once again. You feel as we all are trying to fit into society here that it is one step closer to feeling like we were back in America. For starters, i can legally go to Tesco and get groceries!
