Good things to say about NHS

I'm quite thankful for perscription costs over here. Theres a limit set where you don't pay more than £7.10 (I believe thats the cost) for perscriptions and birth control is FREE.  My friend in the US does not have health insurance at the moment and for one perscription for eardrops she paid around $300, and shes only a waitress so not filthy rich... and I remember when i was a student without health insurance in the US i once paid $70 for one perscription of birth control!!!  It ridiculous over there.  Even with a insurance the co-pay my mom pays is about $150 per month for her meds (she has a lot). 

i have to praise the antenatal, maternity and pediatric services i've received--outstanding!

Agreed on the prescriptions.  And the fact that prescriptions for children are free.  The first time I took my oldest son to the GP and didn't have to flash an insurance card and write a cheque - and then took his prescription to Boots and didn't have to pay anything.  I think I called my mother and cried with joy!

I agree! I just wish they had more Lactation Consultants working for the NHS, but I had a fantastic experience with birthing my baby in the UK!
