There's no rule that says you have to have breakfast food for breakfast. I know a woman who has her main meal first thing in the morning! Lamb chops, potatoes, etc. It's not for me, but it works for her. So you could pretty much eat anything you want!

Every now and then I eat non-breakfast stuff for breakfast but it's not something I generally enjoy.

I think I may try some of the hot cereals.

When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life. ~ John Lennon

I like the big mushroom caps stuffed with different things and nuked for 1-2 minutes just to take the rawness away. The most disgusting version I have is probably leftover spag bol with a bit of cheese. You can also poach an egg in the mushroom, or they are divine with Cheshire cheese melted in them.

If we have a fry up on the weekends I will save a sausage or some bacon, nuke that in a whole wheat tortilla wrap with a bit of brown sauce - yum.
If I make oatmeal on the weekends I make a double batch and then some is ready for Monday morning (I don't do instant).

I also like a banana rolled in a w/w tortilla that has some pb spread on it. Or granola.

i make flapjacks so i've always got instant breakfast to hand.

we buy granola from a place called Heatherslaw Mills and then i toast it with honey and a bit of oil, mix with dried fruit and top with yoghurt.

sometimes i just have a banana with a smoothie from a carton.

Crepes, with jam and cream cheese inside, then rolled up and sprinkled with sugar. Croissants, the kind you bake yourself, that come in the can. Belgian waffles.  When I was pregnant I was TOTALLY off food, I still am a bit. I ate loads of crackers and cheese, every day. With my indidestion it was about all I could handle.

Toasted bagels with a slice of cheese and an egg on top. Very yummy.

Anything is good for breakfast!  In the past (not lately) - I've had pizza, pasta, leftover - well anything(!) for breakfast before if I wanted it.

I love Sainsburys Taste the Difference porridge oats.  I slice up a banana, put in some porridge & milk & zap it in the microwave for 5 minutes -- stirring at some point mid-way through.  This week, I've been trying to trim back on some carbs (at least up until tea time) so I've been having Yeo Valley natural yoghurt with a little honey & a bit of fruit - raspberries or banana, etc.

Ooh...have you tried the Total 2% Greek yogurt with honey?  Totally decadent, and yet so good for you!
I refuse to answer that question on the grounds that I don't know the answer.

Plus the things other people have mentioned....

baked apples with cinnamon and brown sugar
a green pepper stuffed with tuna mayo (okay, not for everyone- but my daughter loves it)
Feta cheese cubes and cucumber
crusty bread with simmered rhurbarb spread on it
fruit salad- my kids like bananas, peaches, pears, and cranberry
berries are 'superfoods' and obviously quite expensive, but if you buy them frozen not usually too pricey (we buy ours at a local farmers market- you can buy per kg) I use them in quick breads, we eat them plain, mixed with yogurt, and put on cereal
My son likes dry Weetabix- obviously I don't recommend this :)

avocado- partially peeled and eaten with a spoon
Hummous on english muffins with black olives

When I'm bored with breakfast foods for breakfast, I tend to eat leftover curries we've made...I like the spice in the morning - almost like having caffeine!

My mother would be proud of you, Onetiger! There's nothing she likes more than leftover curry for breakfast!

I made some muffins today (they're ok, good with cream cheese). I also bought high quality rolled oats. But we dont' have a microwave so it's the slower stove-top method I'm afraid.

Believe it or not, I don't really like yogurt. I eat it now and then, and DH and DS love it, but I can only stomach about 4 spoons of it before I feel a bit sick. Oddly, I do eat loads of it with curry, though.

Thanks for all the ideas. I'm sure the pregnancy is making this harder for me than it should!

What about kippers? I like them with lots of fresh, buttered bread.

Haven't tried that. We did an amazing kedgeree last year so no reason why kippers on toast wouldn't work, too!

smoked salmon w/ scarmbled egg.  yum!  i'm 36 weeks along and have had mixed responses abt my eating smoked salmon, but i figure if it's cooked in with egg (but not too much) i'll be okay.  that's what i tell myself.   :)  when not preggers, smoked salmon, cream cheese, red onion, & tomato on a toasted everything bagel.  chase it all down with a strong cup of coffee.  heaven.

eggs are so versatile, and if you're craving hot and/or spicy things, you could always add salsa or chili...
