99% terrible. All of them. David Cook was OK. Most of them even managed to slaughter some of the most perfect pop songs ever.

And Chary? Brooke has to go.

 :P

I thought their choices were rubbish! Come ON, it's Neil Diamond.  And I KNEW that Jason would sing Forever In Blue Jeans.

And Brooke? Blah.

Oh, and I think Syesha might have turned a corner with Andrew Lloyd Webber and does have a personality after all.

Is it just me? I thought they were all kind of good last night! This has been my favourite week! Kind of. Except that I didn't really like Archipelago who's like a wind-up Clay Aiken impersonator. Not a good thing.

I agree that Brooke's first song sucked, but I thought she was fantastic on her second song! And I hated Jason's second song, but I actually really liked his "Forever in Blue Jeans"! I looooooved both of David Cook's songs. I still find Syesha a tad boring, but not nearly so coma-inducing as Archipelago.

I think Syesha and Brooke will be the bottom two. I just hope Syesha goes home.

Yes.  ;)

It was definitely my favourite theme. But I just didn't enjoy them I'm afraid.  :-\\\\

That would probably be my hope/guess too. I'm happy to get rid of Syesha at this point.

I'm curious to hear what Ms Normal thinks. Shouldn't she be popping in about now?

You rang? ;D

Okay, here's my take on it:  They ALL chose poorly.  Much like Andrew Lloyd Webber week, I really didn't see the contestants have much of a connection with the songs.  Neil Diamond is an amazing songwriter, and when choosing to sing one of his songs a person should actually connect with it (I'm talking to you, Mr. Archipelago).  While I think that several of the performances were good, there was nothing behind them.  No emotion.  Nothing.  Hell, I can't even remember what David Cook sang.  And that's saying something!

In no particular order:

Brooke completely lost any support from me with her psycho prom queen version of "I'm A Believer".  It was terrifying to watch.  As for "I Am I Said", well, I've watched it on YouTube a few times since all the bloggers were drooling about it.  I don't think she 'got' the song at all.  It's not a redemptive song.  It's a song of desperation.  It's also one of my favorite Neil Diamond songs, so I'm a bit touchy about it.

Jason seems nice.  He has pretty eyes.

Syesha sang really well.  But she chose SO poorly.  "Hello Again" is an awful song.  She may as well have sung "Turn On Your Heart Light"!  The second song (the title escapes me) was happy and bouncy, but utterly forgettable.

David Archiecomics tried to pull a KLC, and it makes me hate him a little for it.  Pulling a desperation move when you're the frontrunner is tacky.  Go home, little David.

David Cook did a great job with his two songs, but it wasn't anything to write home about.  Unlike several of his other performances, I'm not running to iTunes or YouTube to listen/watch again.

 ;D ;D ;D  :-*

I actually would buy David Cook's songs off iTunes. If I did that sort of thing, I mean. No money = no tunes. Anyway, I think maybe part of the reason I loved them so much was that I'd never heard either of them before. So not having the Neil Diamond (Monkees, or whoever's) version in my head probably helped.

I might know someone who may have purchased his studio version of "Music of the Night".  Maybe.  Possibly.  If you were interested.... possibly.

Aw, thanks, but I think I'll wait for his multi-platinum CD. Actually, it was his first Neil Diamond song last night that I liked best! I don't even know what it was called, but I thought it was great!

EXactly.  I didn't even think that she GOT 'I'm a Believer'.  It's like she totally missed what the song is about.  Which, in my opinion, is almost impossible to do.  And can I say?  Dead Eyes.

I wasn't really impressed with any of them. David Cook was my favorite, though. I'm not totally familiar with Neil Diamond songs so that's probably part of why the show was just "eh" to me.

And sorry...Jason HAS to go. Thank God I taped it. I fast forwarded through him. Brooke wasn't great, but there's something about her I like.

Pah. Well, at least I was right about the bottom two.

I have to say, that Neil Diamond medley at the beginning of the show was possibly the worst thing I've ever heard!  :o

Sorry about the results.  But, it was either going to be this week or next week for her.

I can proudly say that I have never watched a single one of those stupid medleys.  Zip zip goes Mr. DVR. ;)

This one was worth watching just for its sheer awfulness. And, to my glee, it showed up Syesha's lack of talent really well.
