Christmas flights to the US

Just wanted to say my husband and I took the unusual step of booking our flights to the US for Christmas this year (waaaay earlier than usual) because the price was a mere £430pp flying direct to Seattle on BA out the 17th Dec and coming back in the New Year.    Now that's a load of money, but it's the cheapest holiday flight we've ever had, so just thought I'd throw a heads-up out to anyone planning a holiday trip on BA. You may want to check now. 

I don't always think it makes that much of a difference.  Our tickets home for Xmas were £440 on BA from LHR to San Francisco, we bought them end of September.

Maybe it's just that Seattle's expensive?  I think San Francisco is usually a cheaper gateway for us, but with the extra flight, it comes out as more, so unless we're treating ourselves to Virgin, we don't.  I wasn't suggesting that price would apply to anyone else, just that it was unusually cheap for us, so others might want to check their cities to see if theirs are proportionately reduced as well.

Northwest is going to start flying between Seattle and LHR starting in June. I'm quite pleased as I hope this will help prices on the route.

£430 isn't bad on the Seattle route, I've paid £500 before and will be looking at £420 to go over this March.

I think we were just astounded because traditionally if you want to fly out between 13-24th of Dec you're in holiday high period and are going to pay accordingly.  March is usually comparatively cheap.  I'm guessing you mean direct?  I've flown NW before to/from Seattle/London (and been happy with it), but always had to change in Detroit or Minneapolis.  Although I'm not thrilled service-wise with BA, they've always had the monopoly on direct-nonstop flights from SEA to LHR.  Woohoo!

Funny how we all have different experiences.  BA has always been great to us, best flight attendants.  This last flight they moved us into Club World 4 hours after the flight began because they knew my husband was in so much pain.  Totally pampered us the entire flight.  They sat us in First Class until the wheel chair came to get him off the plane.

We may be forced to fly Virgin home in June when we move back because of our dog.  Bummer but it's our last flight for a while since we are leaving England for good.
