Hi familyof6!
In a word - great!
Windsor is a great little town, very sought after to live in, has a good laid back relaxed and friendly atmosphere to it. Lots of tourism for the Castle and Eton schools nearby so always people from all over the world mingling. In recent years, the town centre has had a facelift in an around the train station, it's great for relaxing in after hours, family friendly too.
I 'don't know about the schools, but I do know there are a number of highly regarded ones around
There's no 'real' bad sides to Windsor, the further west you go (past the main roundabout!) and the area changes to the Dedworth area which is much more affordable and hence you'll find middle of the range type of areas. Windosr's so small there's no real no go areas although like any town there may be a few pockets of places you dont really want to be at late night etc.
Windsor is easy to get to, great travel connections, very close to Egham, Ascot etc, the history of Runnymede is 2 mins drive and you can easily jump on the M4 or M25 motorways to quickly get into London etc.
Even if you're School choice means you don't get into this school, the American school mentioned in your previous post is all but a 15-20 min drive away (approx!)
The property is expensive, but proportionally cheaper than London, there's plenty available and good thing is with all those Victorian villa's, there's good amounts of space as well - so depending on your budget, I'd put forward that you'd definitley find a place big enough for all of you within your allocated and realistic budget.
Overall, definite thumbs up!
Cheers, DtM! West London & Slough UK!
