I've found the soured cream at Tesco, but it's really liquid-y. Unless there's a way to thicken it a bit? I've tried creme fraiche on it's own, but wasn't too keen on it (I'm really finicky unfortunately lol).  I just want to find something good to put on a baked potato.

Mix the two together - it'll be great.

Sainsbury's soured cream always seams a bit thicker than Tesco's.

Agreed.

I tried some half-fat creme fraiche recently that tasted exactly like sour cream to me, and it was somewhat thicker than soured cream usually is. I think it was from Co-op, but I'm not sure.

But it just occurred to me that you might be able to drain the soured cream to thicken it up. I've done it with yogurt. The easiest way I've found is to line a sieve with a couple of coffee filters, although muslin or a few layers of cheesecloth would probably work too.

Lisa, don't know if you've tried Discovery (I think that's the name) Mexican sour cream. Saw it in Tesco and decided to give it a go. It's with the jalapenos, salsa and taco kits in Quayside. It was not bad at all. I know you're picky but it's worth a shot ;)

We always just use creme fraiche. Has anyone tried the Discovery sour cream that comes in a jar and is not refrigerated? I always wonder about that when I see it.

That's the one I just posted about ;) It's not bad. I find it no different than creme fraiche except that it's a bit thicker.
