Egg roll/ wonton wrappers
« on: January 28, 2008, 05:18:35 PM »
Anybody found them here? I've looked in Tesco, Morrisons, and Asda so far and haven't had any luck.

I wanted to make some spring rolls for cards tonight, but now I have to change my plans.

I also can't find chow mein noodles (the crispy ones in a can). I've been craving tuna casserole the way my mom made it and I need these for it.

I've seen the wrappers in Chinese/Asian food shops.  Probably the best place to find your noodles too.

I'll have to look for one in Bristol. I've been in the Asian grocery in Weston and it was far less than impressive. (Very small, pretty dirty, and with very little that I hadn't seen for cheaper at the Tesco a block away.)

Another thought ... you might be able to get them online from an Asian food site, if you can't find them locally.

I'm sure Bristol will have many other asian shops - you might have to trek to another neighborhood/side of town though!
When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life. ~ John Lennon

my husband made ebi gyoza last night and found wonton wrappers at a local asian shop. He wasn't sure if they were the right thing as they were labeled wonton pastry, they were great!

Ooh thanks, that site looks really good! We only have a teeny weeny Asian shop here and they're always sold out of the things I want.

Edited because I just noticed they charge £15 to deliver to our postcode area!  >:(

Ah the old "Extra delivery charges for the Highlands" delivery clause?  Despite the fact Royal Mail don't charge any extra  >:(

Usually I don't order from companies that say that just on principle but I think if it was for Asian groceries, i'd use it as an excuse to make a big order.   ;D

Parcelforce charge extra to some postcodes in the Highlands, but ours isn't one of them, I checked on their website once, so it is very annoying when companies charge more. Grrr.
