LOL!  FWIW, I took a box of the black pepper & olive oil flavored Triscuits to my (British) in-laws for Christmas, thinking - oh they probably won't like these (because DH doesn't).  My FIL & MIL couldn't get enough of them & my FIL declared them so good as to say it's simply preposterous that they aren't being sold over here -- because there most certainly would be a demand for a biscuit like that! 

I brought a box back after Christmas (wasn't even craving them that badly--my mom just bought a bunch and wanted to get rid of them), and my husband wouldn't go near them at first. Then the other day out of nowhere he goes 'we need to find a substitute for those Triscuit things--I've decided they're really good!' And I said, 'trust me, there's no substitute. If there was I would have heard about it on UK-Y.'

I do love them...so salty and delicious.

The only thing I miss is Twizzlers.  When I go home, there are  tons of things we buy to eat but I can't say we miss them while in the UK.  But we sure enjoy them when we get them!!

And yes Triscuits are on that list , along with Aunt Jemima syrup!

So, what's the recipe for homemade sloppy joes? Mince and...water? Ketchup?

I've never made them before, but this thread is almost certain to give me a craving in the near future...

Olive oil,
1 or 2 lbs mince beef (I had a huge packet in the freezer I used up)
1 or 2 onions, chopped
3 tablespoons Wochester sauce
3 tablespoons brown sugar
1 tablespoon steak seasoning
1 tablespoon chili powder (go easy on this depending on taste - I used Cayenne pepper and 1 tablespoon was a little much lol).
1 tin tomato sauce or chopped tomatoes undrained.
(I had a lot of beef so I doubled the sauce)

Brown your beef in skillet, drain. Add onion, cook til translucent
Meanwhile mix everything else in a bowl to create sauce. Then when onions are see through, pour the sauce over the meat and cook for a few minutes.

Put in bread, or over rice, or pasta. Yum!
Easy and quick.

Are they a regional thing?
I remember those from when i was a kid, only they didnt have all the weird flavours they have now... there was only 1 kind of Triscuit in those days.

nooo I know what it is but I have not had any since I was a kid! I was never a big one for snack food  since growing up. Maybe I am strange  ???

I have a great recipe for BBQ sandwhiches that tast almost exactly like Manwhich but much tangier and really simple to make.  If you want the recipe PM me.

ETA- If you want some kind of specific cut of meat or a certain flavor of sausage (it varies from location to location and it is not filled with bread it is filled with rusk, same as American sausages) you can totally ask your butcher.  I asked my butcher to make a spicey sausage and he did and the next day made another batch and they sold out.  Butchers are kind people and are willing (at least mine is) to cater to your wants.  But then again I liked my butcher so much I married him.

So if I wanted Cajun sausage, how would I go about asking for it.  would they even know what that was?  Do I bring in a recipe?

Yeah just go in and ask if the would consider making a spicey cajun sausage, remarkably they are open to suggestions, they are always on the hunt for new and exciting stuff.  My husband just started making a Chicken, Ham and Leek pie and it came from the suggestion of a customer.  If your butcher isn't receptive I would say try another.

Yup, our butcher would make you a batch of whatever you like, he does small batches of different sausages already.  Also, if you wanted a cut that isn't usual here, ask!

Butchers here rock.  Too bad I don't eat meat..
