I'm pretty sure you can send food here, right?

One of my friends was going to send me some Cuban cafe (coffee) via FedEx but was told she couldn't ship it because it wouldn't go through customs.  That's not true, is it?

I've never gotten food on my underpants!

If it's in a sealed packet or jar I think it would be ok. It's onnly stuff that's open or fresh produce that's a problem.

You may have a problem with the shipping because they use coffee to disguise drugs..but we have brought coffee in our suitcases..but it was still sealed......

Hmmm I was wondering about that with the coffee and drug smuggling.  I just found it bizzare that was flat out refused before she even sent it.

That is weird.  We have food sent to us all the time, and a lot of it is homemade pickles.. we just have to pay some duty.  (From Japan and Canada, but it shouldn't make any difference.)  Try another courier?

My mom in the US has sent me Dunkin Donuts coffee loads of times and even written on the package when it asks whats inside 'coffee'.. and ive always received it unopened as she sent it.  I've also brought back coffee with me on every single journey back from the US and never had a problem... maybe Im just lucky?  ??? She sent it USPS.

My mom sends me coffee regularly. No problems at all.

FedEx and UPS are pains in the butt about customs. I was going to have some small items sent and the people who used those got hassled and gave up. I've had all sorts of food and non-food stuff come to me by regular ol' USPS and there were never any problems.
Another shameless promotion for www.mclevey.com, the best place on the internet to buy art.

My mom just sends it in a regular white postal box, the ones they have at the US post offices, and she writes coffee on the customs form as well. Never had an issue with it.
