I've just started going to Danceworks which they offer Matwork pilates ...and I've got a video as well.
But never fear, gentlemen; castration was really not the point of feminism, and we women are too busy eviscerating one another to take you on.

I was taking a pilates class for a while but the teacher reminded me to much of a high school p.e. teacher...sorry to any p.e. teachers, but they were not my friend in school. As far as the class goes, I didn't really care for it, but I am more into yoga. I think the real pilates, one on one with the tools and everything would be great, but the big classes, like pittpanther said, aren't great. On the other hand, it is really important for the lower back health to strengthen the core muscles and pilates will do that.  Belindaloo, if you are for a second, unsure of whether or not you are doing the exercises correctly, make sure you ask the teacher. If you do them wrong, you could be doing more harm than good.

I think I'm overthinking it all. I had a dream (nightmare?) last night that the class was HUGE! Like 200 people!! LOL! And the instructor was this nasty man in a business suit who didn't want to talk to me.

Has anyone heard of the Alexander Technique?? I never had, but my chiropractor also mentioned that as a way of improving posture and helping with back problems.

I know a lady who is training to be an Alexander technique instructor. She says they re-teach you to use your body the proper way, instead of the lazy shortcuts we all use. It is supposed to help with posture and also to help you learn not to pick up things the wrong way, or sit at your desk improperly etc.
