Tesco Bloomer
« on: February 20, 2008, 09:40:51 PM »
One of the challenges we have found is that everything in the grocery store looks different...mostly.  After trying many different kinds of bread from different stores, for us, we really like Tesco's Bloomer bread.  Not so exciting, but it has a meaty crusty with a really soft inside.

I just recently starting buy bloomers for my husband (and he looks so cute in them  ;D )
But seriously I ended up getting a Tesco bloomer simply because he fancied a change and it was on sale for 46p. He loved it and now I get a few a week for his work sandwiches. We always get Tesco French stick which is also lurrrvely!

We get the French stick too, but the bloomer, while delicious, is too big for us to eat and for some reason I'm really stupid about bread presevation: it goes stale on me in hours.

Tesco bakery bread is very nice, I usually get a crusty farmhouse loaf, and it's always lovely and fresh. Their ciabatta rolls are very nice too!

That's my bread of choice too! It makes great toast!  ;D

Okay... I'm a carbs fiend and my carbs of choice are usually bread and pasta.  I love Tesco's Bloomer bread, and am ashamed to say that often I have eaten only that for lunch, because it's so good.  It usually takes me two days to polish off a loaf.   :-[

We've tried all sorts of bread in our family...and the Tesco bread is a winner for taste and economy.  We buy at least two loaves each week cause we're HUGE bread eaters (thus why neither of us are skinny minnies!).

I buy the in store bakery granary loaf (whether Asda, Morrison's or occasionally Tesco - just depends where I went shopping), get them to slice it and I keep it in the freezer....takes about 10 mins for a couple of slices to defrost when I want some. (or a quick 20 sec blast in the microwave if I really can't wait!)

Try keeping your bread in the fridge (I know, it reminds me of my grandparents too - but it does hold merit).  It retains a bit more moisture and prevents your loaf from going moldy (unless you leave it in there for ages).   ;)

Thanks, Criostin. I'll try that. How long does it last that way, usually?

Morrison's also does a really good bread roll, a ciabatta roll I think, that is heaven to eat on it's own. Now I'm a bit biased as I could eat bread alone for days, but when it's all fresh and warm with a slightly hard crust, I'm in heaven.
