For all the UPAKWESHIP-ers, I got a question!
« on: February 25, 2008, 03:42:01 PM »
Did they help you secure the boxes and/or furniture??  We are thinking of going with them since no one seems to be getting back to us except them on a price and we really need to get it moving.  But we have a few items that we don't want sliding around and didn't know if they have any way to secure things inside the container.  My FIL plans to be here when we pack everything up and all, but is concerned that we might need our own ropes or bungees or something to make sure that stuff does not shift.  Any help would be great!

They should do the securing in the container.  I would call them and ask your question.  They really are very helpful!

You just drop everything off at their warehouse and they pack the container.  They shrink wrapped all my boxes onto a pallet.

I had the same experience that JennRedd had, I just dropped my boxes off and they did the rest.

I think I'm going to have a different experience, they told me that they just bring the container and we pack it all.  We don't live near a port or anything and my guess is that is why it is different??  The initial information I got was that they bring a container, you get 2 hours to load it and then they take off with it.  Did you all take it to a port or something?  Where did you take it and drop your stuff off at?  We're in Iowa, so I'm not sure if that is the difference.   ???

Did you sign anything with upakweship yet? if not you may want to email this guy davew@rainieros.com
hes my contact with rainier international, thats who we are using. we had a quote from upackweship for $6000 for a 20 foot container, that was to load everything ourselves. He quoted us the same price, only they will come and pack and load everything for us.

i hope they can help you, i felt much better after someone actually came out and looked at our stuff to verify that we werent being unrealistic about what we would be able to take, plus they pack it so thats less stress on me AND it has a better chance of making it there in one piece lol

I hope it won't be a problem that we've already packed a ton of our own stuff.  Not much that is breakable, but we've packed up a ton ourselves.  They probably won't like that very much.  I suppose we'll see!!

I might have them repack the few breakables we have.  Most of the breakable stuff we haven't packed yet for that reason.  But I think my husband packed a few of his breakable things already.  Wonder if it would give us a break on the price if we had quite a bit packed already?  All the clothes and books and photo albums and kids toys are about done.  We really aren't taking much else except for our DVD collection, a few pieces of furniture, and some random other stuff that isn't really in a certain catagory and will probably get thrown in a box together!

Emily, thank you so much for the info on Rainier.  They beat the other quote I got and are great to deal with!  We've decided to use them and I hope you don't mind, but I told him that you referred me to him.  Thanks again!

I am glad you told him, i always like to pass along good service to people but i like them to know i did it :-)
I figured he would help you since they came in SO much lower than everyone else we got quotes from. I LOVE the fact that they will unpack at the other end as well!

My comment is to avoid this company at all. I

experienced a lot of difficult times with this company and it still

continues.
