OMG a ticket i think

i was driving last night and speeding,and on the other side of the street the cam flashed was it for me? and how much will it costme? i was doing 55 in 40. my dh is going to kill me, i didnt tell him just yet........ i went through the white lines on the ground, i mean i ws doing 40 when i went over them............ help?

In our case, we paid the 60 pounds and took the three points.  (41 in a 30 zone)

if the camera is on the other side of the road, i wouldnt think it was flashing at you.

Was there another car on the other side of the road? Speed cameras can be on either side - and some flash you as you come toward them and some as you drive away from them. If you were doing 40 the whole time you were between the lines it seems unlikely it was you who tripped it, but if you saw a flash and you know you were speeding... sounds as though you'll be getting a photo in the post soon.  DH always makes Driving Miss Daisy comments to me, because I'm SO paranoid about getting caught speeding!!! I just can't afford it!

i could be wrong, but i thought they always caught you from the rear... i've never actually seen one that snaps you from the front.

No, we definitely have one that gets you from the front - you cross the lines as you approach the camera. DH always warns me when we're on that road....

They snap you from the front and the back, then know if you are speeding because of the time it takes for you to get from one camera to the next.

There's nothing wrong with being a bit Miss Daisy-ish! After having a horrible points/fine scare during my first year on a UK license, I'm very careful.

am still on my american licenses.. i went across those lines at 40, but then sped up and normally i dont speed but i had to use the loo....... how long does it take to get the ticket in the mail..

But when you get your UK license, those points will carry over, unfortunately.

Have you been here over a year? If so, you might have to pay a bigger fine.

I've been 'flashed' quite a few times and never received a ticket. I always thought maybe it was for the car in front or in back of me.
