Form 1040 & State Taxes?
« on: March 10, 2008, 09:29:23 PM »
Hi there,
I am a USC who has lived and worked in the UK for all of 2007.  My husband is a UKC who lived and worked in the UK for 8 months in 2006 but I will be filling married, filing separately.  I have filled out the 2555-EZ but am dumbfounded by the 1040.  Can anyone give me guidance on what sections/lines I absolutely need to fill out on form 1040?  I have no special circumstances, no alimony, capital bonds, pensions, tuition expenses, I'm not blind, no kids and I have not earned anywhere near $85,700K.
As for state taxes, I lived in NJ most of my life (and most recently before coming to the UK).  Does anyone know if I need to file NJ taxes as well?
Sooo many thanks for any help that's provided!
Alissa
