Babysitter For Hire.
« on: May 13, 2002, 05:03:41 PM »
(Or should I say "child minder"?)
::)

There's a train station in Ely. Trains will take me just about anywhere, right? As long as I wear a safety helmet and do a lot o fpraying before I board?

So... anyone out there within train distance of me (I shuold only be 45 minutes away from London) who wants a sweet, young, cheap, fun, American babysitter beginning July of this year - look no further.

The way I figure it, David & I are going to need time away from each other anyway, right? And I will need fun things to do to keep me busy and to keep my butt from rotting on the couch, right? Right. And, I love kiddies and they love me, seeing as how I'm 90% child anyway.

Oooh... I come with references too.
Written ones. ;)

So there you go - the offer is on the table. Want to go away for the weekend? Want to go out during the day and then go out drinking with me when you get home? ;) I'm you're woman. Hop on board the Sara Train. Choo choo!!!

Remember Horshack from Wecome Back Kotter?

Oooo, ooooo! waving his hand in the air? That's me. I'd kill for a sitter, we don't have one. We don't do anything without 3 little kids. Ugh.

I might just take you up on that Sara! I'm about the same distance from you as you are from London I think, specifically Rugby, right near Coventry.  :)

You're on!
I need to get to the station in Ely (I wonder if they have a website?) - and see where it will take me. Though, if nothing else, I could always make David drive me. ;)

Stop poaching my business marlespo!!!! lol   ;D  I'm a registered childminder, so if anyone in the Yorkshire area needs a sitter just lemme know, I even have a nice white gleaming certificate that says I'm not a convicted criminal  :D.

So Stephanee, you're registered as a non-convicted criminal?  Hmmm ... I think I should rephrase that ... let's see, you're not a criminal, convicted or otherwise, you have a white gleeming certificate, and you look (solely for our purposes, of course) like a chick version of Slash?  Hey, the perfect child minder!  I'm sorry I don't have any small children that need minding.

You're not a convicted criminal?!?!?

[smiley=confused.gif]

That's not what Scrumpy told me earlier.

Well, I've got two kids and we'll take a non-convict or any criminal involved in minor offences  ;)

As I'm now the official Parenting Board Moderator [smiley=crown.gif] I would like to remind you that such subjects are most welcome there.

Yeah, I didn't even think about that until AFTER I posted it here. Wonder if theres a way for us to move a thread? Or would Leah have to do that?

There is a way, and I'm just trying to figure it out now. Think Leah is having a bit of a headache at the moment, so us kids will just have to have quiet play for now  ;D

K - I can't move this. Only the moderator, so it's up to Leah when she's able.

I was just looking at the train tables Marlespo, because there's no direct route between there and here, you'd have to make changes and go out of the way to come here, making it a 3 hour journey by train. Hardly worth it.  :-/

Hey, if there's a Baby Sitter out there who is in the Hertfordshire area, let me know.  I'm in East Hertfordshire and I have a 4 year old son.

What's the going rate these days, anyway?

we pay £5 an hour during the week and £6 on the weekends.

The sitter we use is very good (sorry, not in your area of course  ::)) however she mentioned to us that she has lost out on jobs to several American families becuase they said she wasn't qualified enough. Apparently many American families insist on a wide range of certifications that just aren't common here unless you're going through an agency. We were careful about checking her references and then using her for short periods of time in the begining to get the children's impression of her. They love her and are always bugging us to go out more. Nice to be loved isn't it? ;)

Someone that will watch 3 kids at one time,  hummm and American kids at that, lol.  I'm with you Leah, finding someone to handle 3 at one time is a TALL order.  Sara ur clientelle list is growing by the minute, you might need to pencil in some time for David.
