I'll be in London on Friday the 21st. Yippieeeeee
« on: March 19, 2008, 07:28:00 PM »
My sister and I will be visiting. I'm in Chicago now hanging with the family.

We're looking forward to the week.

Suggestions on where to go or what to do? My sister is 14 and I'm much older. ;-) So anything age appropriate.

We are staying in Notting Hill.

I made it!!

I have only been to London a few times, so I'm not the best, but I would say its actually a lot of fun to get one of those "Big Bus Tours" you can hop on and off and see whatever you want throughout the city... Tower of London, Tower Bridge, London Eye, are all great things to see... Certainly those who live in London can give you better advice
I've never gotten food on my underpants!

My teen kids absolutely love doing a wild mad dash around the major sites and taking pics for their MySpace pages. You can easily walk between Buckingham Palace, Trafalgar Square, Westminster Abbey, Big Ben and Parliment. In less than two hours you can have pictures of a life time...at that age anyway.

If you like something a little more down to earth visit some of the ethnic neighborhoods. I live in North London with a strong Afro-Caribbean and African flavor. In south London, you can find wonderful Asian culture.

And for the really macbre, there is always the Jack the Ripper tour...a definite MUST.

Go to one of the shows on the West End, you can get cheap last minute tickets in Leicester Square I think it is.
Besides the bus tour there are also the amphibious tours of London which are supposed to be very good.  The website is www.londonducktours.co.uk
If you are willing to venture outside of London a bit then Windsor Castle is very good.

Have fun.

I love Hampton Court Palace! Just walking around the gardens and grounds is lots of fun and so beautiful!  Perhaps your sister would like to go for afternoon tea somewhere?
