I can't believe people get so bothered about spoilers!  :)

I'm usually quite spoiler-phobic - largely because I believe that knowing how something ends (or who dies, or who makes a shocking reappearance, etc. - it's usually something LARGE) really takes away from my enjoyment of the book/show/film.  I'll be waiting for the spoiler to happen instead of enjoying the progression of the story in the way the writer/creator planned.

In the case of Doctor Who, I'd been spoiled about Rose's reappearance by, of all things, BBC news (which is pretty incredible considering I'm in the Doctor Who online fandom and the internet was RIFE with spoilers about Rose and S4).  I still don't want to know how her story is going to play out, however - I want to see it happen on screen!

I go to huge lengths to avoid spoilers!  I knew that Rose was coming back from here, but I didn't know when or how, and because of this Saturday was a shocker!

FYI, they're doing a Doctor Who Proms concert this summer:

I wish we could go!!

Anyone watch the Pompeii episode Saturday??

I really loved it, especially Peter Capaldi and his petty bourgeois obsession with filthy lucre.  ;D Must get me some household gods though. The sybils - well the ones not entirely cracky - were really pretty too, face paint and all.

Also, is anyone sensing there's gonna be a Master level story arc building this series? Just with the red fingernails in the last episode of series 3 and the prophesying girl.... ooo it gives me the shivers!

Loved the Fires of Pompeii - Donna was fantastic, bringing the Doctor back from the brink of Time War PTSD and making him realise that while he couldn't save Pompeii, he COULD save that family.  I'm really digging Donna and her no-nonsense attitude.  And the water pistol!! :D  Hee!

The part that has all the 'chippers squeeing is the line where the lead sybil (old stony-face) said "she is returning!"  I have to admit, I shivered a little bit at that. :D

And what's with all the lost planets?  The Adipose breeding planet was "lost", the planet of the magma-people was "lost", Rose is "still lost"....  I'm beginning to suspect an E-space/Logopolis sort of plot.

Tee-hee...I'm guessing that most of the Americans didn't get the funniest thing about that episode. Caecilius, Metella, and Quintus are characters from Book 1 of the Cambridge Latin Course, which is set in Pompeii and ends with the eruption. I was giggling about that the whole way through! [smiley=laugh4.gif]

But I loved the water pistol, too! ;D

See now of course I didn't know that until I watched the Confidential and RTD was all squeeing over how he put this big in-joke in there.

I am so loving Donna! She's just what he needs to keep him in check sometimes.

I didn't get that....I only had a comprehensive education  ::)

Still...BRILLIANT!!!  I have had a complete change of heart about Donna.  i thought she was going to be annoying but she is great.  I love that she is going to stand up to him, and sees herself as an equal.  I particularly loved the "I don't know what little girls you have been hanging round with, but you don't get to tell me to shut up!"  Fantastic!

That's exactly what's making me love this series so far--she has spunk and doesn't go around mooning over him the whole way.  It gives her room to develop and be an equal.  I was worried that her character would overshadow his, but it so hasn't at all.  I wonder how many ways they will find during the series to tell people that they are NOT a couple.

Love Donna.  And FH loves her too, even though Catherine Tate usually annoys him to no end. :P

I'm just chuffed that my dorkiness was actually useful for something.  ;) ;D
