Didn't see another thread on here for it.  Saw it today with mapleleafgirl72 - loved it! [smiley=2thumbsup.gif]

Day-Lewis was well deserving of the Oscar.  Loved his scenes with the Charismatic preacher... ;) :)

I can't believe I've not seen this yet - part of me has been a bit scared to because the trailers alone give me chills!

I actually expected much worse than it ended up being - lol - scary-wise.  But the Day-Lewis character was fabulous!

I really love this type of movie generally(historic epic),  but I didn't like this one. The score sounded to me like a distant air-raid signal throughout the whole movie, and it grated on my nerves. I found it also didn't explain well enough why he was such a bastard.

I did love Paul Dano(Little Miss Sunshine) as the preacher-he's a very talented young actor. Daniel Day's performance was great as usual.

Oh, I loved the score. So intense, and really established the mood of the film. It was written by Radiohead's Johnny Greenwood as well! :)

It's based on Upton Sinclair's novel Oil.
