This is the first time I am filing the Form 2555. I thought I had my tases all worked out BUT since I chatted with Guya the other night I realize I don't think I can get this all done by April 15th.
I have never filed an extension before. Much less one while living abroad. HELP!
1. Do I file Form 2350 or Form 4868? Or do I just attach a 'statement' to my return saying how I qualify for the automatic 2 month extension?
2. Do I file the form or statement for the extension with my forms when I send them in late? Or do I have to fill all my relevent forms out the best I can and file the estension form or statement with the forms by april 15th and then work on getting the forms done properly?
3. Will filing an extension jeopardize my Foreign Earned Income Exclusion?
Sorry if all the above seems rambling but I have been looking at US Tax Code, forms and instructions since early March and literally lived, eaten and slept US Taxes solid for the past 5 or 6 days since I found out I probably hadn't completed half the proper forms.
So far I have completed
1040
1040 schedule A, B, C & E
2555
but since I may or may not be a partnership I don't know whether I need to instead of filing a 1040 file a form 1065. I don't think I file the 1065 since the partnership has not Effectively Connected Income to the US or gross source income connected to the US.
I have competed a Form 8865.(I know to do that to be safe rather than sorry).
I am still trying to figure out whether I also need to file a Form 8858.
So you see why I need to file an extension.
Plus I need some sort of statement that says I will be contributing to NI.
I am about ready to get call it all quits and just shoot myself, except no one has any guns over here. :\\\'(
