The Grand National 2008

Anyone watching or betting this year?
For the past two years my son has picked the winning horse but we're only putting a fiver on his choice this year.

Thanks for the reminder, though Lord knows how I am going to find time to go to a bookies today.

I won a grand total of three pounds last year :(

I know. It's very disturbing and mine usually goes down after the first jump.  :-\\\\

As long as nobody (horse or human) dies, I love seeing the jockeys fall off.. and the horses continuing the race by themselves.  But hey, are we going to be able to fit in the race AND Dr Who today?  I'm worried.

Me too. Though I haven't had a bet today. DH loves watching racing but I can only stand to watch it on the flat - I hate seeing them fall and always have to look away at each fence.  :(

Well my son picked Snowy Morning who came in third and my husband picked King John's Castle who came in second!

On a sad note I heard a horse had to be shot  :\\\'(
It's so incredibly dangerous!

I had a bet on Simon, who fell fairly early on.  I hope he is ok.  :\\\'(

Wah, one dead horse.  Was it the one who fell on the second jump really badly?  It looked like he (possibly) broke his neck.. hope the jockey who was taken to hospital is OK.

My imaginary money was on Snowy Morning and Slim Pickings, so I did fine.

I don't know which one they had to put down. I don't think it was Simon. I nearly put a bet on him but changed my mind at the last minute and bet on Vodka Bleu only because I was thristy at the time. lol  Vodka took a tumble early on.

I bet this year and watched (my first time), but won't be doing it again.  Watching the horses fall and hearing one had to be put down is horrible.

This tip has never failed me yet for any horse racing event.....pick a Irish Horse with a Irish Jockey......

Me and Chris have got tickets to Sandown races on August the 7th.....it has a Madness concert there afterwards...really looking forward to it!  ;D
