Combination Microwave/Grill
« on: April 07, 2008, 04:31:46 PM »
My microwave has finally kicked the bucket after fifteen years and I want to replace it with a combination microwave/grill thing.  Does anyone have one?  Do you like it?  Do you use both parts?  My husband wants to know the benefits and I have no other reason other than I really want one.

We have one, and if I'm completely honest, we've never used the grill function. The attachment is sitting on top of the microwave catching dust and mocking me.

i bought junehawk's off her b/f she moved back to the states.

it really comes into its own during thanksgiving.  you can use it like an actual oven- it browns and roasts and everything.

since it's just the boy & i- we don't use all the nifty features all the time.  but i really like it.

it is much more expensive?

We've got one.  They're great.  Only thing is the convection bit on ours only goes up to a certain temp so some things we can't cook in it.

We have one.  We got it a few months ago.  It works well.  We have only used the grill function once, but it worked well.

I'm not being funny, but if you have an oven and a grill (I'm assuming most people do), why do you need one? I mean what does it do that a normal oven or grill doesn't?

For times when things require different temps or you have multiple things to grill etc.  We don't use the grill function very often but frequently use the micro/convection combo for things like potatoes.  It's great for big Sunday meals or Thanksgiving/Easter/Christmas type meals.

I have a Panasonic one and I love it. I make roast new potatoes in it and its great, I use it everysingle day. I also do fantastic sweet potatoes in it. I don't use the grill function, but I do use the preset functions on the front, OH YEAH, we use the frozen pizza function all the time. I can't say enough good things about this microwave, I think Curry's has it for a good price.

I have a combination micro/convection/grill oven.  Works great, particularly for larger families where you are running out of oven room.  I've used all the functions and it works a treat.

I could definitely see myself using one of those. We used to grill a lot but stopped when the landlord replaced our stove/grill. We hate the grill part of it (but that's another story). When we did grill a lot, often I wanted to grill multiple things and either wouldn't have enough room for them or they would need different grilling temps.
When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life. ~ John Lennon
