Lovefilm website & delivery slowness. Alternatives?...
« on: April 13, 2008, 03:17:41 PM »
Hi everyone

I know there's some of you who have lovefilm - have you found recently that the a) website is painfully slow in operation and b) their DVD delivery turnaround time is slow as well?

Before it was lovefilm, the site was Screen Select - the DVD turnaround time (I'm on the 3 DVD a time package) was lightning quick - If I returned 3 discs on a Monday (Royal mail pick up by 6pm from the postbox) I'd have 3 more delivered by Wednesday's morning post.

Now with 'Lovefilm', the same return by me and I won't have a delivery till maybe thursday or quite often by Friday - very annoying. In the last few days, I've also noticed their website is even more sluggish than usual - anyone get the same?

Lastly, is there anyone else who's on a competitors package who's getting decent levels of performance and delivery/turnaround times? if so, which one ?  i'm now looking to move my business elsewhere..

Cheers!

We LOVE LOVE LOVE Amazon's rental service. We get 4 a month for 7 quid (two at a time), and the other deals are very reasonable. I believe the subscription also entitles you to 5% off all DVDs from Amazon.co.uk.

Turnaround is very fast. We often pop the dvds in the post on a Monday, and usually have replacements by Wednesday. The catalogue is brilliant too - We have very rarely searched for a movie that wasn't available on Amazon.... and we are obsessed with obscure Asian cinema, so this is saying alot!

It's a very good service. In three years, we have had absolutely no complaints.
Ok, so I'm smug.

been using amazon.co.uk for about 18 months.  love it.  no compalints.  fast service.
If you harbour bitterness, happiness will dock elsewhere.

We're with Amazon as well and love it.

Amazon is transferring its business to LoveFilm soon though, so hopefully nothing will change.

I hated lovefilm, too! Amazon was good for awhile, but they purposefully slowed down send-outs (we were with them twice, and you could tell that the second time, after they had started unlimited plans, they were slowing things down). And the fact that Lovefilm is taking over soon made me avoid them for repeat business.

We're with Blockbuster now, very quick turnaround time. If you mail a movie back on Monday, they will receive it and send another out on Tuesday, and you'll get it Wednesday. At least that's how it works for us. They offer a two-week free trial, but I have a Web site link that offers one month free: http://www.blockbuster.co.uk/BBSiteContent/Affiliate/WinterOffer.aspx. As this is called a "winter offer," I'm not sure if it's still good, but it's worth a shot. Otherwise, if you use cashback sites like quidco.com, you can get several pounds back for signing up if you access Blockbuster through the quidco site when you sign up. :)
