Some great advice and JennyD - well done! and all though Christmas too, wow! I tentatively started today and this is a major change for me - I SO don't know what to eat cos I am really fussy and rely on sandwiches/bread a lot and diet coke is a big draw with me, despite understanding the chemical problems it can cause (I drink tons of water at work, but my drink of choice at home is DC).

Today, I think I went mad, I had 2.5 eggs scrambled in the microwave with a dot of butter & black pepper and 4 mushrooms with maybe 1/4 oz hard organic cheese sprinkled over for breakfast, then I had a bunch of almonds/hazlenuts for a snack and some cold mini sausages and that's it, I feel nauseous and tired despite about 5 pints of water if not more.

So I need lots of practice! But I have made my start and have many reasons to continue and it helps to hear of your success JennyD as well, I hope  you will be able to share some of your dishes/foods with us.

Best laid plans! I still have sketchy internet access, so can't be online much. :( Hoping upon hope to get our own place in the next week or two!!!

Back on low-carb, and LOVING it. My sister in law is doing it with me, so I'm cooking all the dinners and she is loving it as well. There are so many new low carb cookbooks over here I can hardly stand it! And lots of crap products as well, seems like everything wants to be low-carb now. So nice to be back in the land of buffalo wings, jimmy dean sausage, and iced tea! :)
I'm done moving. Unrepatriated back to the UK, here for good!

My husband and I are going on low carb tomorrow.  Not sure why the DH is dieting, perhaps showing me support.  I am looking forward the eating change.

Hi Guys ( welcome back sara, it's great to see you :) be great to have your enthusiasm too :)

Danielle, Good Luck for the next week, my hubby supported me too with the cooking/preparing and eating the same ( however, he was also the first to "crack" and want junk food!)

I weighed myself today (just over a week of starting) and I have lost 4 lbs! I am thrilled as I wasn't 100% low carb ( still "practising"!!!) and had built in some chocolate too.....I am trying the 80/20% way of eating for now, but cut out bread and potatoes completely and I have to admit...diet coke (also a diet coke addict too!) and anything with aspartame in it or any other artificial sweetener.

Not easy, but not as bad as I thought either and I feel lifted by the 4lb loss enough to carry on.

Good Luck :)

Sheril

Thank you so much :) I almost didn't weigh either ( but have bought a "smart card" from Boots!)
So, next week, it will be BOTH of us :)

Just a question for anyone who may know.  Can I drink one can of diet coke a day on low carb diet??  Just wondering.  I am on day 2 and so far so good, hopefully I will continue to have willpower.

I have always had great success with low carb diets. I drink a can a day but if I want more I have it. With me I dont torture myself. If I really want something I just have it. I lost 36lbs 18 months after I had Coby. I wanna lose 20 since having Jack.

This sounds like me without the babies ( :\\\'()  The slower the better!  I did the same in three months and have now put most of it back on.

oh no. A misunderstanding. I didnt actually START the low carb diet till Coby was 18 months old. I lost the weight in about 4 months :)
Low carb has been the easiest diet for me. I see it more as a lifestyle than a diet
