For anyone on the Low Carb diet, how are you doing?  I am on day five and so far it is going well.  Though, I do desire mass amounts of carbs ;)

Hang in there Maddierose. After the first ten days it becomes very easy. The first ten days are usually miserable. Going through sugar/carb withdrawl. Go to www.lowcarbsuperstore.com
they have some great low carb stuff that will help you get through the difficult times such as 7pm till bedtime. They have really good biscotti's there by the way but be prepared to pay!

Just a heads-up for you LCers ... I just returned from my local Tesco and they have Atkins Endulge wafer bars on sale for 49p the piece, also, on offer are the "Advant Edge" Carb Control bars, 2 for £1.49. Dunno if this is a local thing or storewide, thought I'd share.

Danielle- chin up :) this is the hardest part! Not easy to get past the carb cravings though is it- I have not been so good this week, home sick and feeling really rough and carbs hard to stomach so much, but thinking of you :)

Thanks Sheril, I am still going along on the diet.  I do want to eat other things, but I will most likely stick with this for as long as I can.  Of course I will have to treat myself now and again ;)

I'm doing low-carb. I started Jan. 4th and have lost 12 pounds--I weighed this morning. I'm trying to weigh myself just 2X week. I was told that the herb Guggal is good for carb cravings, so I've been taking that daily. It was also recommeded to take Flax Seed Oil capsules w/each meal so I'm on 2X three times daily.

How many carbs do you let yourself eat a day, in fact anyone can answer, Please??  I am on the Atkins induction, that only allows 20grams.....

I'm not doing Atkins, I'm doing MRC (Metabolic Research Center) It's a bit different that Atkins. They stress that its not a "forever" diet, but just to get the weight off quickly and then they transition you to another, more realistic way of eating. I've PM'd you about it.

Thought I would revive this thread as it's the only one that comes up when I do a search.  I have just been told by my doctor that due to my PCOS I need to be on a carb restricted diet.  I have been doing it for about a week and find it incredibly hard because I just don't know what to eat!  I have found a few meals online that I might like.  I am not doing a no-carb but low-carb.  It's driving me insane because I used to take a sandwhich for lunch and now that's out.  I find even eating breakfast difficult now because anything I would eat for breakfast is out...i.e. cereal, bagels, toast.  I am particularly staying away from bread, potatos, and pasta as those have always been a big staple in my life, and loading up on the veggies I can at least tolerate. I love fruit and found a list of suitable fruit.  So that's not a problem.  Has anyone heard of or use flax seed meal to bake with?  I keep seeing it crop up in some recipes but have no idea where to get it!

bacon & eggs!
When i was LC, i used to make poached eggs or omelettes quite often.
I used to also do this thing where i'd mix scrambled eggs, Philadelphia cheese and Splenda together, if i fancied a sweet breakfast.

Try this forum - i used to be a member... they've got lots of good recipe ideas.

I just started low-carbing again. I seem to do it in 10lb intervals. I'm hoping to drop 10lbs before my trip to Paris next month.
I find it the easiest way to lose.
I just had pork and mozerella sausages and scrambled eggs for breakfast.
Ill have a salmon wrap for lunch. What I do is just take a slice of salmon, smear Philly on it, add some onions and roll it up.
For dinner sirloin steak with grilled mushrooms and onions with button sprouts.

i do that with ham, but the salmon would be lovely as well!

Nice idea. I may try that tomorrow. Ham's a lot cheaper and we always have it in the house.
I also do tuna mayo wrapped in a lettuce leaf. I sometimes think I prefer that instead of bread.
