I also do tuna mayo wrapped in a lettuce leaf. I sometimes think I prefer that instead of bread.

i hardly ever eat bread anymore.

I don't really have a problem giving up bread. It's the potatoes I miss the most  :-\\\\
Sometimes I mash up cauliflower and put gravy on it! lol

Right, I have just prepared this thing called "cauliflower rice". I haven't used it so I don't know if it's gonna be any good.

I was hoping some of you more experienced low-carbers can give some opinions and advice as i really don't want to sit and read book upon book about all the science behind it and things I don't understand.  One of the first things I don't understand is how to determine how many carbs are in something.  Like today, I found a chocolate bar in the diet section at Boots that said only 2g carbs. But when I looked at the nutrition information it said something completely different. So I am not sure how to determine how many carbs I am eating.

Usually you can tell on the packaging. I think when I first started low carbing I think I bought a guide somewhere. I would steer clear of low carb choc. It stalled me big time!

yeah, I got so confused by it all, I thought I would just wait until I could figure it out.  I saw these Atkins bars too but I think before I really have a jist of what I am doing, I will probably mostly just stay away from the breads (which I absolutely love!!), potatos, rice and pasta.

there are online low carb food shops. Just google it. You can get Keto potatoes and keto pasta but Ive never tried them.
Our Tesco used to have tons of low carb stuff but now they stopped it. So I just have to go with what I know.

Whisper, best thing you could do is invest in a cookbook or two about low-carb cooking.  Here's a couple links I just looked up for you, both seem to have good reviews.  Also, maybe read up (loads of info online) about how our bodies process carbs, fat and protein.  It really helps when you understand more about nutrition.  Good luck and hope this helps a bit!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quinoa

It tastes really good cooked in veggie stock (or meat stock for you non-vegetarians!)  I usually make this once or twice a week.

I used to swear by The Zone Diet which I did for a year and lost weight (along with major cardio and lifting weights)  But now since being a veggie I have added whole grains into my diet, and learned a lot more about nutrition.  We need carbs for fuel, we just need to eat the right carbs!

More good info on quinoa, I also love that site in general for it's info about healthy foods.
