I kinda get where Carla's coming from.

Yeah -- it's a lot of vitrol to direct at a TV personality, but then again sometimes people on TV just inspire those kinds of feeling for basically no good reason. Well, unless you consider how people pronounce their t's and l's to be a good reason which is what makes me want to reach through the screen and choke things.

The Rachael Ray posts in this thread seem to indicate that this is pretty common. :)

I could reel off a list of half a dozen actors or TV shows that make me go like this, but that's probably for a different thread  ;D

there's another woman... i dont know her name, but she's on UKTV food when i get home just now... between 16.30 -17.00.  A blonde, whose head is too big for her body.  She cooks Italian food, and speaks with a broad American accent unless she is saying an Italian word, which she says in (fake-sounding, to me) Italian accent.   I really want to choke her!   She just grates!  :-X

That's Giada Delaurentis! I agree, she's annoying.

Yeah, I always wanted to slap her and felt really guilty about it cause she seemed like such a lovely person. And then I read an interview with her and she proved so obnoxious, I stopped feeling badly and now hate her with a clear concience. :)

I don't like Giada DeLaurentis, but mainly because I don't like Italian Food. My sister just had her kitchen done just like Giada's kitchen, its gorgeous. She is Dino DeLaurentis's granddaughter.

Men find her sexy, in a witchy way. (at least that what my BIL says)

Everything about this woman annoys me.  I can't cope with watching her for more than 30 seconds, so I'd never realised that her recipes were good!  I hope they're on-line.

I'm with Vicky! I absolutely love cooking shows and have grand delusions that I will one day have my own cooking show! My personal mantra is- "If that horrible woman (the Barefoot Contessa) can have her own cooking show, then there is nothing stopping me!"
What if the Hokey Pokey is what it's all about?

I like 'em both....

I like Giada DeLaurentis's food - I probably wouldn't hang out with her, but she probably wouldn't hang out with me either. But I like her recipes and in the end that's what I'm most concerned about. The only chef I can't watch is Rachel Ray and that's both because she's so beyond obnoxious but also because I'd never cook anything she makes.

As for Ina Garten... sorry, I adore her. I actually find her quite genuine. And I don't think she's ever made anything that I wouldn't love to eat. And I'd KILL for her lifestyle - beautiful house, husband who (I think) clearly adores her but travels a lot (  ;) ), fab gay friends coming around all the time for dinner.... Yep, sign me up!  ;D

Am I boring for loving the cuddly Northerner James Martin?

He can wrap me in pastry and bake me in his oven anytime...

He is adorable.  One of my co-workers met him once - she was stunned into awed silence at how wonderful he looks in person as well!!

He is a joy to watch...even if he's not cooking!
