snooker....

whilst I'm sure many find it bizarre that snooker (and Darts...lol) can be on prime time telly here i just wondered if anyone else was watching the world championship on at the mo?

As sad as it might be i find it difficult to stop watching a good game....watching the final now

For an American... no more odd than darts on TV!!

I sort of enjoy watching snooker. They're SO GOOD it just amazes me and I think it's enjoyable to watch pretty much anything done with that much skill! DH doesn't particularly love having me watch though as I talk all the way through - "why'd he do that?" "which colour is next?" "how much does the guy with the gloves make for replacing balls all day?" 

Poker is a hugely popular game worldwide game compared to Snooker so not really comparable.

I'm amazed by the skill (and speed) too. For the weeks after the world championship i will toddle off to the local snooker hall with some mates...''bloody hell, that table didn't look as big on the telly...c'mon guys - lets go down the pub and play pool''

 

Hugely popular with who? It is popular..but I am surprised that in the US now, there are channels dedicated to it...

I couldn't believe that it's covered as much as it is, either.  Compare BBC's snooker coverage to any billiard coverage on ESPN...it's astounding
