Hmm, point taken Olive. I made a query to pro-uk.net to get their experience on the matter. My wife wants to get her Masters anyway, so we're looking at that option now. If she has her BA in Community Service but a MSW accredited by the CSWE, then there should be no problem with the GSCC, right?

I really, really, strongly, agree with Olive, as I have indicated in previous posts to you.

In my opinion, I think the strongest course of action would be for your wife to do an American MSW that is accredited by the CSWE, as she will more likely gain GSCC registration as per

"If you qualified in the USA and hold a Master's degree in social work that is accredited by the Council on Social Work Education, you would normally be expected to meet the DipSW requirements."

http://www.gscc.org.uk/The+Social+Care+Register/Apply+for+registration/Workers+from+abroad/Country+assessment+guidelines

She will then be qualified to work in the US, and it will further her career where you currently are, so to me, it's a win-win situation, regardless of whether she applies for GSCC registration, post-MSW, and looks at work permits. This allows the most options with the most gains, in my opinion, and she won't lose out on her career by doing her MSW. Can her employer sponsor her where you are?

Best of luck.

Hello all,
I've also been having trouble getting a Sterling draft, because my bank is lost and has no clue how to get 30 pounds (since I already have a letter of Verification) that must be from the UK banking system, that is either direct debit, cheque, or bank draft. I contacted the GSCC again today, and they stated to ask the bank for an "international banker's draft"  in pounds sterling. All these terms that I am giving the bank attendees are really making me get some confused faces while there. I had to ask the lady at the GSCC again if that's the same as a traveler's cheque or money order in pounds. She said yes. I will see if that works. Otherwise I will have to take a rather long trip from the middle of FL to an American Express or HSBC office. That's the only thing that is holding up my application at this time. If anyone has additional suggestions, please be sure to post. Thanks.
