Train on time? London-Glasgow
« on: May 09, 2008, 12:48:23 AM »
Hey! I have a question for those who have done the long distance train travel thing. I am having two friends from the USA speak at a youth group on Sunday evening at 6pm. They have spent at week in England using the BritRail pass and are using it to come visit me in Glasgow. They leave King's Cross at 10.30 and arrive in Glasgow at 16.14 (5hr,44min travel time)

My question is this: are trains heavily delayed from London? I know its a Sunday so do they do line engineering work those days? Has anyone been majorly dealyed on this route? Am I just being too paranoid they won't make it for 6pm?! lol thanks for your advice.

I've done that trip a few times.  Never had a delay out of KingsX
Love your life, poor as it is. You may perhaps have some pleasant, thrilling, glorious hours, even in a poorhouse. The setting sun is reflected from the windows of the almshouse as brightly as from the rich man’s abode; the snow melts before its doors as early in the spring. Cultivate property like a garden herb, like sage. Do not trouble yourself much to get new things, whether clothes or friends. Turn the old; return to them. Things do not change; we change. Sell your clothes and keep your thoughts…

You can check if there are any problems on the day you plan to travel on the network rail website.  Usually they seem to save any major work on the line for holiday weekends.
