Hiya!
I'm sure by 'Consumer law' stipulations somewhere, refurbished products do have to be fixed to a level the same as a new item and has to be clearly marked as being refurbished.
Also, don't forget, your statutory rights cover the product as if it was a new item - if the item goes faulty often enough within a short space of time, it's deemed an inherent fault and you are entitled to recourse.
There is nothing wrong with buying refurbished goods, the 'only 3 or 6' month warranty doesn't make much difference at all as manufacturers don't have to even offer a warranty of any sort by law - it's your 'Statutory rights' that cover you.
I suggest taking a look at the consumer laws websites etc to double check, I think Britwife knows more about this as well - right now I'm regurgitating from memory some of the stuff I read about in industry publications.
if in a situation down the road you find yourself in the position of having to pay for repairs etc - remember that household insurance can and often does cover laptop equipment, if not , you could take out specific laptop insurance for around £7-10/month if you really want.
As ever, do some research to cover all your concerns and make a decision at that stage! preferably before yer MAC gives up!
