Help with filing taxes!
« on: May 25, 2008, 04:03:54 PM »
hello to anyone who can help me...I  haven't filed my taxes in about 4-5 years. I don't know where to begin because everything seems so confusing. Any advice given is greatly appreciated. I don't have the money to pay an accountant or tax expert. I am american living with my british wife and have been living here in the UK for over 2 years now. I didn't know I had to file taxes living in another country....the reason I didn't file taxes before is i wasn't working so  how can I file without an income. I think its wrong that me being an american has to file us taxes while earning income in another country..Why should I have to pay tax to america as well as the Uk? Why do I have to declare it to America at all because here in the uk they take it out of your wages anyway? Anyway If someone could point me in the right direction it would greatly be appreciated. Someone told me about getting an IRS transcript??? How do I go about getting one of those while I am living here in the UK? Sorry for all of the questions.
