ILR (WP & HSMP) - Original Docs?
« on: May 28, 2008, 08:46:57 AM »
Now that I've passed the KOL test, I'm gathering what I need to apply for ILR (not eligable to apply until 14-Aug).  Applying in person at Birmingham PEO.

Bringing the following (along with application & payment):

1.   Initial Work Permit Letter, Dated 10-Sep-03
2.   Extension Work Permit Letter, Dated 10-Sep-05
3.   HSMP Letter- Reference 2XXXXX- Dated 12-Dec-06
4.   2003 Wage Slips (September thru December)
5.   2004 Wage Slips (January thru December)
6.   2005 Wage Slips (January thru December)
7.   2006 Wage Slips (January thru December)
8.   2007 Wage Slips (January thru December)
9.   2008 Wage Slips (January thru July)
10.   2003-04, 2004-05, 2005-06, 2006-07, 2007-08 P60
11.   Mortgage Statement showing that I own my own house in the UK, and hence  have suitable accommodation.
12.   (6) Months UK Checking Account Statements- February – July 2008
13.   (6) Months UK Savings Account Statements- February – July 2008
14.   (6) Months US Checking Account Statements- February – July 2008
15.   Current Passport
16.   Passport on which I first entered the UK in September 2003
17.   2 photos with my name written on the back
18.   “Life in the UK” Exam Pass Certificate
19.   Absences from UK- Section 6 (Supplemental information- will print excel spreadhseet showing all absenses) (currently at 426 since Sep 03, and 99 since Sep 07)
20.         Letter from employer detailing which of the above absenses were required for work.
21.   Birth Certificate
22.   UK Driving License (used as identification for “Life in the UK” Exam)

Question: #1 & #2 above are COPIES.  My work retained the original.  However, they now CANNOT find the originals.  Is this going to be ok?  I have the passport with the FLR(WP) Stamp, and FLR(WP)Extension Sticker.

Wow. I applied through the post for my WP ILR and I think I sent in three bits of evidence - a letter from my employer saying I was still needed, my KOL pass notification, and a recent wage slip (and my passport, of course). I think you'll be more than fine.
Summer 97 - first visited friends in London
99-00 - studied at Uni of Sussex on exchange
Feb 02 - moved to London on BUNAC
Sep 02 - WP granted (IT skills shortage list)
Sep 04 - WP renewed
Sep 06 - WP renewed again (screwed by 4-5 year ILR change)
Sep 07 - ILR!
March 09 - Citizenship!
July 09 - bone marrow transplant :(
18 Sep 10 - wedding!
Mar 12 - half marathon in Paris! 1:47:12!
Oct 12 - Amsterdam FULL marathon! 3:48:23!

ha, not to hijack your topic meggles, but I have things lined up for my FLR application that I *know* I don't need and they are never going to look at.  But I'm taking them to the appointment anyway- overthinkers unite! ;)  At least with a PEO appointment you can give them information as requested so I don't overload them with evidence!
Now a triple citizen!

glad someone's the same- i just don't want to schlep all the way down there, just to be turned away b/c i don't have the one silly doc they need.

this happened to me during my WP(FLR), went all the way to croydon, and came back empty handed b/c my employer hadn't given me paperwork I needed.  not a happy camper.

Better to prepared, especially since you're going in person and would have to shlep back and forth. Good luck Meggles!

While I have a very, very long time before IRL and it will probably change long before I get there, like you, I travel a lot for work and I'm worried about the time out of the UK stuff.   Probably best that I don't worry now only 6 months into this though.

I've never gotten food on my underpants!
