I would like to go to Turkey too (and Egypt!), but DH has no desire. :(

What about Spain?

America is the cheapest place for us to holiday for DH and I.  My family puts us up and feeds us, so we only really need to buy our plane tickets and take spending money.  If it wasn't for seeing my family, I probably would rather go somewhere more exciting (eg new!).

I'm with you on Spain!! Love it there. Helps that my hubby's grandmother lives there so that's where we go for cheap holidays.

I went to Kusadasi, Turkey last summer for holiday and had a really fabulous time.  We didnt explore the city much because it was sooooo hot and we got an all inclusive deal where our meals, drinks (alcoholic as well), flights, hotel and transport was about £300 each for 10 days... and the food was actually really good and we got to choose from 5 different restaurants as part of our all inclusive deal.  We were right on the sea as well and the hotel was gorgeous with 3 massive swimmnig pools.  If anyone wants a recommendation, feel free to PM me.  :)

We went to Turkey for our honeymoon and it was the worst holiday we ever had - we can laugh about it now, but our enjoyment was severely hampered by having zero money, being stuck up a mountain and other mishaps.

I'd like to go again to have the holiday I wanted the first time around!

I always recommend Ghana. I am not sure what flight prices are like these days but once you get there it's pretty cheap and always HOT. You get about a million cedis to the £. Seriously!  Lovely beaches, and interesting cultural things to see and do.  Food is delicious and cheap and the people are friendly.  I've been there twice and would love to go again some day.

hi brit wife.. do u have to have a visa? or is it a visa at the airport? can u recommend a particular city or place? the kid is wanting the states really bad. im not sure what i want, and dh is in cairo where he wanted to go, so its up in the air. ususally we spend the summer in saudi with some of his family, but we did that trip in april. thanks for all the suggestions and replies, ETA: i checked on expedia today we can go to turkey for about 1500£ for the three of us with a three star hotel for about 23 days. that is within out budget, the city was anatlya? i think not sure of the spelling:)

I'm a british ppassport holder & was there for work so I had to have a work visa. I am not sure about tourist visas, you'd need to check with the Ghanian Embassy in London. I don't think you can get them at the airport.  I was in Accra both times but travelled a little around the outskirts. If I was going back for a holiday I'd probably go to a beach resort. Kokrobite and Labadi are beautiful.
