Sorry! Didn't mean to suggest otherwise. I'm quite sure you're up for an adventure.  :)

How about combining an interest of yours with a trip somewhere? If you like to cook, spend a week at a culinary school, or take a language course, or something active like hiking or biking, etc?

Have fun whatever you do!  ;D

Well we just returned from a week in Paphos, Cyprus about a week ago. 8)

And the long walk - Cumbrian Way (http://www.ramblers.org.uk/info/paths/cumbria.html) starts this Saturday.

Then I'm ready to stay home! :)

Will probably be getting itchy feet again come August though, so maybe something else for August bank holiday weekend, the autumn & beyond.

I think that summer is the best time to stay in the UK! If I could go on a holiday, I'd probably rather do it in February or March. But Britain is the nicest place to be in the summertime!  ;D

I love to travel, so whatever I choose, it will be fun.

Anyways, I have a while to choose because work is beyond busy right now, we're launching a new product in less than 2 weeks and then our team jumps in straight away into another project.  It will probably be fall before I am able to travel for something not work related

We go to LA at the end of June for a month. While we are there, we are going to Palm Springs for 3 nights to a super cool boutique hotel and spa. DF will have to work the middle 2 weeks of our stay in LA, but the last week we may go to Vegas or something for a couple of days. I like the desert.  8)

In August, we'll probably go to Munich for a weekend and then to Sweden for a week at the ILs summer house for some fishing.

Not totally booked yet, but we'll be going back to Kilfenora, County Clare where we met two summers ago for Irish music classes, pub sessions, walks on Fanore beach and into Lisdoonvarna...I love West Clare!

Just paid the balance last week on a villa in Gran Alacant, Spain - DH and I are spending a week there with five friends in July.  Haven't booked the flights yet (see recent IA for more details on that!) but will be flying out on 12 July.

Might be spending August bank holiday in Cornwall (Land's End) with a friend, but not sure yet - I'm scheduled to work on the Saturday so I'd have to do some serious juggling!

I agree. :)  (as long as it doesn't rain all summer, that is... :P)

We're doing long weekends this year instead of holidays so dh can tick off all those places he's always wanted to go to.  N. Ireland, Turkey & London are already done so the plan for this summer is Barcelona, Rome & Dublin (finances permitting!)

Taking our honeymoon down the coast of CA.. starting in downtown SF for a night, Pacific Grove at a gorgeous B&B and then camping in Cambria.  All over the map for accomodations but really looking forward to it!

Oooh....I love Cambria, DH used to live there and i've visited it tons, would love to live there!  Have fun  ;D

I can't help but feel slightly jealous reading about everyone's fabulous travel plans. As I near the third trimester, I think my traveling days are numbered. I wanted to go to Bruges for a long weekend in July, but as there is still so much to get done on our house before our little bundle of joy arrives in September, that's turning more and more into a pipe dream. I have a friend coming for a visit in early August, and I am contemplating taking a day trip to Lille on the Eurostar if I am feeling up to it. I'll be about 7 1/2 months at that point, so I dare say I won't be as mobile or as perky as I was last month when I traipsed around Paris for 8 hours.

Any other ideas for fun day trips from London that require little travel and are "low-impact"? I'm still not totally giving up on the idea of a "babymoon" for me and DH.

no holidays for us this summer- we've got our hands full with our new house and spending £600 for my spousal visa!  Our only real holiday planned this year is our official honeymoon in New York City in October after our family wedding. We've booked 5 nights in a suite on Times Square- can't wait!
Now a triple citizen!

We've been looking forward to this summer for nearly two years. We're moving to Brussels for 3 months at the end of June (for my husband's job), and will be travelling around (mostly Northern Europe) nearly every weekend. Of course, this was all supposed to be better planned by now, but we just haven't had the time. I think we'll be getting the map out this weekend. We do have a trip to Amsterdam planned when my friend comes at the start of July.

We haven't had a holiday in years (outside of visiting family), so we're really aiming to see and do as much as possible this summer, before we have to come back to the real world.
