my bike has been in customs for over a month due to the VAT nonsense.  I have filled out form c3 or something about 10 times on it, saying i've owned it for 6 years and blah blah.

what a nightmare.  i don't even need it in the uk where we're living!  BAH!!!!!!

I think I'm going nuts here.  I could swear that I posted a link to http://talk.uk-yankee.com/index.php?topic=7023.0 earlier today ... but perhaps I just previewed. 

Anyway - the link is to some research I did on VAT and duty rates, and on allowances that you can bring in when you travel.  I expanded it to include what you're likely to pay when you have things shipped or buy on line and I added some examples.   It's very hard to find examples figures - almost as if everyone's embarrassed to tell you how much it will cost.

Now - let's see if I can find the right button to post this time.

P.S. Aimiloo - hope they take it as used. Tax on bykes looks nasty!
