cell phone plans
« on: June 12, 2008, 08:22:29 AM »
So I was trying to get an 02 sim only tariff plan £15 a month and the bastards want £100 deposit because they can't verify my address.  One thing after another.  They think foreigners can register to vote or something.  Needless to say I'm not getting a phone plan.  I wonder if they will take a utility bill if you go to their store???  Anyone tried it?  Oh we're going with 02 because everyone in our family is 02 so free calls.

I would try again in another couple of months or try another company.  When my husband first moved over here I was on Orange so we wanted him to get on Orange as well. Went to an Orange shop, they declined him. Went to Carphone Warehouse, asked for the exact same plan and phone and it was fine.

Eh I think I may just have to keep topping up.  I don't use my cell much anyways but the wife texts like there's no tomorrow.  I just don't want so many inquiries on our credit report.

Many thousands can, actually.

A council tax bill will verify your address.

I assume you refer to those who have met the residency requirements? Just wondering.

To the OP, Vodafone took a deposit from me and told me that they would credit my account after a 1 year period.  It's because you don't have a verifiable credit history in this country (and don't even get me started on that topic).
