NHS on spousal visa
« on: June 14, 2008, 08:46:42 PM »
I am sure this topic has been posted somewhere before, but I can't find it.  Just wondering what the first steps are in registering for NHS when I get there.  I am on a spousal visa. My husband has a GP in our small village, so I assume I could use the same one.  Any advice on how to get the ball rolling?  Thanks!

Just give the GP surgery a call and tell them you want to register. They will probably make you a registration appointment where they go through some general health questions and stuff and that's it.  :D

Yup it is that easy! It is a good idea to mention to them that your husband is already registered, sometimes if they are not generally accepting new patients they will make an exception for a family member of an already registered patient.
