I think I was about 10 or 11. The high school girls on the school bus did and I thought it made them look so grown up and cool.

How old were you when you truly realized 'I AM an adult now'?

I was 19. My best friend in high school was a guy (he still is after all these years) and we were together nearly every weekend to see movies, go to concerts, the mall etc.. but it was never a date. However, no one asked either of us out because everyone thought we were a couple because we were together all the time.  ;D

How old were you when you were first allowed to cross the street alone?

Our street was very residential and there weren't many cars coming down it that didn't live on the street, so very young--probably as soon as we moved into the neighborhood--about 7 years old.

How old were you when you were allowed to play outside without an official "time to come in and get ready for bed"?  (Not counting a school night.)

Oh not sure, quite young. I never had a bedtime.  And I'm sure my mom and dad were happy we were outside running about rather than causing a ruckus inside  :P

How old were you when you walked/took the bus to school without your parents?

I was five. We lived in the country and took the schoolbus. I'd ride the bus to school and mom would pick me up, because we still had half day kindergarten 'way back when' and I was in the morning session.

How old were you when you first went shopping for clothes without a parent or other adult helping pick them out?

How old were you when your parents let you stay home by yourself (vs getting a babysitter)?

Half my wardrobe ws Esprit.  ;D The rest was all from Fashion Bug and Sycamore.

I was probably 11. I was babysitting by then, so the logic was if I was able to be in charge of other people's kids, I was old enough to stay home (with my 12 year old brother there and grandma 2 minutes down the road) for a few hours.

How old were you when you first tasted alcohol?

I was pretty young - probably about 7 or 8 (maybe even younger - I can't remember) - I used to be allowed a tiny 15ml sherry-glass-full of low-alcohol wine when my parents had it with dinner.

How old were you when you went to your first music concert?

14, my much older cousin took me.  It was Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers!

How old were you when you attended your first theatre event (a play, musical, or whatever)?

I'm pretty sure I was really very, very young.  The first one I can remember was the musical Peter Pan and I was about 3 or 4.

How old were you when you got your first paying (with taxes taken out) job?

I was nearly 19. Up to that point I babysat, making great money at it. My first 'real' job was working in the skeeball building at the local amusement park that was 10 miles from home.

How old were you when you had your first crush, not counting someone famous?
