HOWY when you first saw/experienced the Internet?

I first heard about it in the mid-90s when I was about 11 or 12, but my parents always said it was too expensive and that we'd never get it .

My first experience of using it was when I was about 15 (around 1999) and we finally got dial-up (we had to keep a log of the number of minutes we were online for each day so that my parents would know how much it was costing and who was using it too much ).

Around 11, because I saved my money from babysitting, and my brother used some of his money from working in the hay field for the neighbor and we both bought desks to replace the littler ones we'd had for years. (If that counts as major). Otherwise, 20, when my then fiance and I bought a dining room table and chairs.

Wow, I was really old in comparison!  I didn't buy anything until I was 30 or 31 when I bought a futon and futon frame.  Lasted me til I moved to the UK more than 10 years later!

How old were you when you realized you didn't 'have' to act like an adult just because you are one?

I think in my 30s I thought I needed to be more adult, I even started to dress conservatively.  That lasted a couple years and then I snapped out of it before I was 40.
