Just figured I'd pop in to mention that I used caloriecount.about.com, which helped me lose 40 pounds a couple of years ago. I loved that it let you track how many calories you've burned during exercise as well as how many calories you've consumed. Plus it breaks down calories by how much is protein, carbs, and fat, and also shows your sodium, fiber, and saturated fat intake each day. They've also got a wonderful, well-informed forum. And it's free
I'm not sure how UK friendly it is, though!
