Work permit and a secondment...
« on: June 26, 2008, 07:53:59 PM »
If I were to do a secondment say for 6-12 months - from a quality engineer which my work permit is under now to a mechanical engineering position, that constitutes a change in the work permit status and it would need to be updated, correct?  But then what happens when its finished and I would go back to my normal position?

Also, I know I would need a work permit change if I were to go permanently from a quality engineer to a mechanical engineer, right?

If with the same employer then you are looking at a technical variation, and the Home Office must approve the changes.  You probably won't need a new work permit, but they are doing funny things at the moment so I can't be 100 per cent sure.

If in doubt, change to Tier 1!
