Just a quick update to this long dormant thread...

This year we got nematodes, after a suggestion we saw from Nigel Slater.  More on nematodes:  http://ezinearticles.com/?Slug-Nematodes,-Safe-Natural-Pest-Control&id=1004280

So far, so good.  I've noticed a reduction in slug population around ours, but it's been dry recently.  We do have slugs in the composter, but that's ok - they can be in there.  We're getting rain now so the nematodes will be put to the test.  DH mail ordered them from somewhere & put them in the garden & in his veg containers about 2-3 weeks ago.  Will probably need to get more & reapply in a few weeks.

Very interested in how it works.
