Just heard from my dh that he passed his KOL! We're trying to get indefinite leave from the US because we've been married 4+ years, so dh flew to the UK to take the KOL (worked out cheaper than applyng for ILR in the UK plus the bonus of a pre-move visit). I'd booked him a test in the morning and one in the afternoon - just in case! However, the afternoon centre had rung and told my Mum that the time had changed but my Mum thought it was the morning centre! So my husband arrives at the morning centre in Archway - only to be told that he was late and couldn't take the test. So he rang the afternoon centre and was told that the test was beginning in half an hour!!! So after a manic run from Archway to Islington, helped by a sympathetic bus driver who decided to act as his personal taxi and just shot down the Holloway Road without stopping for anyone
he got to the next centre with minutes to spare. They weren't going to let him in, but dh speaks Turkish and for some reason they were all Turks there. After a few niceties in Turkish and a lot of excitement at a Turkish-speaking non-Turk, they let him in with all the rest. And he passed!!
. What a relief. Poor guy was a nervous wreck after all that.
If anyone is thinking of going this route, let me know if I can give you any help from our experience. I found this site really helpful in figuring out what to do.
