Vayama.com & Lufthansa German Airlines
« on: July 06, 2008, 07:22:52 PM »
I'm curious if anyone has ever used vayama.com to book travel from the US to UK. It appears that they have even less expensive options than its counterparts like travelocity and expedia, etc.

Also, the airline Lufthansa is popping up a bit in my searches. I can get a one-way flight from Washington-Dulles for less than $600 (that is less than HALF what Continental is charging).

Has anyone used Lufthansa or know of any experiences with them? This will be for my big move to the UK, so with all those expenses in mind, I'm trying to budget the flight over.

I've had great experiences with Lufthansa personally.  Typical German efficiency.   ;)

I've had terrible experiences with Lufthansa. Lost luggage on one journey and left stranded in Nigeria on another. I would never use then again.

Edited to add: don't bother ordering a vegetarian meal either cause if they actually give you one, it will most likely have at least one item that contains gelatine or something else non veg.

I bought my ticket to Manchester on vayama.com....I haven't actually used it yet but it was easy enough to book it!  Mine is on United Airlines though...not Lufthansa...

I booked my flight from Arizona to the UK on Vayama.  I did some research because I had never heard of Vayama before.  I read some good things and tried it out.

I got here no problems!  I also booked a one way ticket and they had the cheapest fairs around.  Don't know if that helps you at all!

I just booked our flight through Vayama this morning, so far so good :)  I Googled for a while to see if I could find any dirt on them, but couldn't find anything to scare me away from their incredible prices.

Another site to consider might be Igo Ugo. Their website is: http://www.igougo.com/traveldeals/ratefinder.aspx?SourceID=TVLY-pop-air&TypeID=2.
I have found some great prices for my upcoming trips to Vegas from Manchester. I found a flight in October from Mancester to Vegas for $637 return. I still have an official US address though and credit cards/debit cards hooked up to the address so I often use American based airline discount agencies and have never have a problem. Good luck and hope you find a cheap ticket that fits your needs! :)

I can't believe I've never heard of that site before!  I've been keeping an eye on fares since my best friend wants to try to come over in December.  Denver-Dublin round trip has been roughly $1100 including taxes.  I just checked on that site and it's $735 including taxes. :o
What a huge difference!

I used Vayama to get over to the UK as well.  Paid $700 for a 1 way from DFW to Heathrow.  The only bummer was I had to fly Northwest and had to connect in Minneapolis.

Check Kayak for cheap flights, too. I'm going to be flying out on Air India (yeah, never heard of them either) for only $613 to London and back from EWR.

Kayak is who I initially used, but they dropped Vayama from their results, so all the ones I've found (even for months in advance) are $1000+!  I nearly had a heart attack when I went to buy tickets and they'd jumped that high!

Vayama seems to be the least expensive so far, but Lufthansa is only cheaper through Vayama.
