None of that bothers me at all. I kinda like amazeballs too!
To me it just demonstrates that language is alive and constantly changing. It's never static and it keeps things interesting. That does not mean I will join in, but it's still good people watching.
+1
I am an Amazeballs user, I use AMAZE a lot and also totes and even ZOMG, I also use da-fu, THIS and TL:DR.
On Twitter I'll use hashtags, and sometimes I'll use them on Facebook as I'm cross posting from Twitter, hashtags on twitter have evolved, they used to be searchable tags so you could find who was talking about what in groups and track what was popular, they still do that to some extent, but more likely they're used to encapsulate what you're tweeting in one word, which works on Facebook statuses as well.
I would say that you're not necessarily being that serious when using this kind of speak, there's an element of irony to the whole thing.
I love that language changes and you can get an idea of people's era and their lifestyle by their choice of words, in the same way people used to say groovy or whatever. Also because I make games, and a lot of these are associated with nerd culture, /b, reddit etc they seem perfectly normal and natural.
