With all due respect, if it's that bad, don't watch.  :)

ZOMG

Can't stand that one either. Apologies, but I'm in a cranky mood today. And that, whichever way you slice it, is awful.

I love people-watching too, but not when it starts to become painful.  :-\\\\

I promise to keep my UKY hashtags to a minimum. Except of course when using the hashtage #UKY on twitter.

I don't mind 'amazeballs', I used it once myself, but it sounds ridiculous coming from a middle-aged lady.  My friend had never heard it (she's my age).

What does the 'Z' in 'ZOMG' stand for?

It doesn't stand for anything. I pronounce it "Zoh my god!". In my head. I pronounce OMG "oh em gee" out loud sometimes but it's usually "OMGWTFBBQ!" and meant ironically.

None of that bothers me at all. I kinda like amazeballs too!

To me it just demonstrates that language is alive and constantly changing. It's never static and it keeps things interesting. That does not mean I will join in, but it's still good people watching. :)

+1

:D

I am an Amazeballs user, I use AMAZE a lot and also totes and even ZOMG, I also use da-fu, THIS and TL:DR.

On Twitter I'll use hashtags, and sometimes I'll use them on Facebook as I'm cross posting from Twitter, hashtags on twitter have evolved, they used to be searchable tags so you could find who was talking about what in groups and track what was popular, they still do that to some extent, but more likely they're used to encapsulate what you're tweeting in one word, which works on Facebook statuses as well.

I would say that you're not necessarily being that serious when using this kind of speak, there's an element of irony to the whole thing.

I love that language changes and you can get an idea of people's era and their lifestyle by their choice of words, in the same way people used to say groovy or whatever. Also because I make games, and a lot of these are associated with nerd culture, /b, reddit etc they seem perfectly normal and natural.

Sorry if this has been posted before...but the phrase "up the duff" makes me cringe. Hubby has explained it means pregnant...but to me it sounds horribly inappropriate as I always thought of duff as a slang word for your backside. So to say you've gotten someone "up the duff" just brings to mind WAY too many images!!! :o

It's marginally better than 'preggo' or 'preggers', which i HATE.

Forgive me if it is one you use, dear reader, but since starting my current job, I have been 'I know, right!'-ed to death. I have been there barely over a month, but the bulk of the summer help is 14-22, and they all say it every chance possible.

As a phrase it isn't so bad, but it is the frequency that is bugging me these days, since there are about 16 young girls at work who do actually use it every chance they get.

I have friends that say 'Totes' (totally) and that can get a bit annoying.. I sometimes say 'Gorge' (gorgeous) But it's rare. I do say 'I know right?' but hopefully not to the level of ridiculous. I do say 'Seriously?' when I'm flustered haha
