Unless said by a middle aged West Country lady in a pasty/ice cream/fudge shop...

*snigger*

Lol - all our school dinner ladies used to say 'Alroight, moi love/luvver?' to us at school.

When I hear "lover", I always think of that sketch on SNL with Will Ferrell in the hot tub. Ughhhhh.

Am sure it's been said before but I think of it frequently with gritted teeth:  GAME OVER.

Oh yes, that's a most grievous one! :-X

But I've got over my 'it filled a hole' one, because I use that to mean something else entirely now! ;)

When I first arrived in the UK and started my job I was getting a sandwich for a girl in my office and she wrote she wanted an 'ickle bit of mayonnaise'.  I was like  ???  wha??

This isn't an expression, and it doesn't come from the UK, but it drives me CRAZY when (no matter how many times you remind them) people in the US refer to England or the UK as just "London". London is a city, not a country. Those are two very different things.

I didn't know growunps say "ickle" in a serious way. I think of it as baby talk; like an American might say a "widdle bit of mayonnaise".

I sometimes think that many native born Londoners feel that way too!

Not really.  Most of us like escaping out for the weekend.

What I meant was, many Londoners think of that part of Britain outside the M25 as "swedeland". The Evening News will have a front page headline like Ealing Man Bitten By Dog and below it'll say Newcastle Flattened By Earthquake, 50,000 Dead - see page 96

Most of the rest of the country is so used to it from the BBC, that we're not really paying that much attention any more.  London...<yawns>  ;) :P
